Toni Kroos says he was correct to snub Manchester United for Real Madrid back in 2014
Midfielder was lined up by United in 2014 but chose to move to the Bernabeu in a £20million move instead
TONI KROOS believes he was right to snub Manchester United and leave Bayern Munich for Real Madrid.
The German international moved from Bayern to the Bernabeu in 2014 for the bargain price of £20million.
United had been interested in the midfielder but Kroos is adamant the trophies he has won with the La Liga club show he was correct to move there.
He said: “My change of team was correct, in fact, from my point of view there is no doubt about it.
“Clearly, if you go abroad to a top club, it means one more step in your development.
“Carlo Ancelotti wanted me in Madrid, and had bet on me.”
Kroos has become one of the main men in the Spanish capital since his move three years ago.
He has won two Champions League since being their and a mainstay in the side since Zinedine Zidane took over.
And the 27-year-old was quick to sing the praises of the Frenchman for letting him shine in the Real midfield.
Kroos added: "From the beginning, he gave me a lot of confidence, and in his two years [with Real Madrid] he's played me in almost every game, especially in the big games.

"Trust me, I will always try to give everything for the team. We have a good relationship.
"A friendly relationship with the coach is important for each player. "
Kroos is hoping to continue his good form with Real as they look for their third successive Champions League this season.
And Kroos has admitted the reason he left Bavaria for Real.
He said: "Before leaving I was seen as a good player, perhaps as a very good player, but as one of the many players that Bayern had.
"But if you play as a Real footballer you get even more attention. Maybe that part from the fans I do not like so much."
