Onomah, currently on-loan at Championship side Aston Villa, controlled a clearance with his chest before unleashing a spectacular half-volley into the top corner.

And after the Three Lions’ 3-1 victory over the Auld Enemy at Middlesbrough’s Riverside Stadium, he exclusively spoke to SunSport to describe his wonder goal.

The 20-year-old said:“I was just lucky I struck it well. I didn’t know it was going in and I thought I had hit it too high.

“But then I saw it dropping and when it hit the net it took me by surprise, which you could probably see in the celebration.”
