Thomas Muller takes swipe at sacked Bayern Munich boss Carlo Ancelotti
German international claimed training would be better at the Bundesliga club now Jupp Heynckes has taken over
THOMAS MULLER has had a sly dig at sacked Bayern Munich boss Carlo Ancelotti.
The Italian was shown the door at the Allianz Arena after Bayern were beaten 3-0 by PSG in the Champions League with Jupp Heynckes replacing him.
There was talk of players not being happy with Ancelotti's management style and Muller has now indicated it was training where Bayern's stars were being frustrated.
After Germany's 5-1 World Cup qualifying win over Azerbaijan, Muller said: "We will have a good training again.
"Heynckes is the right man because he can inspire the team to have the ability to suffer more, to have more commitment and a better defensive set-up.
"Heynckes will work with interest and passion. There are several screws that need to be turned.
"The team have some responsibilities to carry out."
Uli Hoeness, Bayern's president, claimed the former Chelsea boss had lost the support of five senior players which led to his downfall.
Willy Sagnol was put in temporary charge after Ancelotti was given the axe following Bayern's poor run of form.
Heynckes, 72, was soon brought in to take the job and has dismissed claims he may be out of touch with the modern game.
