Spanish publication are the ones saying that the powerhouses want to bring him in.

Weigl signed a new deal with Dortmund last December until 2021.

However, the reports states with Fernandino and Yaya Toure's deal both running out at the end of the season, City will be on the lookout for replacements.

And Pep Guardiola has identified the 22-year-old as the perfect man to come in.

Meanwhile, Barcelona are wanting to partner the German international as someone to partner Sergio Busquets.

Weigl only returned to Bundesliga action in September after spending months on the sidelines.

He spent his pre-season recuperating from a broken ankle but appears to be now right back in the swing of things.

Since his comeback on September 17 against Cologne, he has gone on to make a further four appearances in all competitions for Dortmund and scored once.

Weigl also has five caps for his country.

H will be hoping to do enough over the coming weeks to earn a recall for the clash against England in November at Wembley.

Germany also take on France at home.
