Defeat against Crystal Palace and a draw against Roma in the Champions League put Conte under fire.

That was only made worse after the 4-2 win over Watford, in which the Blues fought back from 2-1 down.

When asked whether it was time for Conte, 48, to be axed, blogger Toby Brown said: "Categorically NO!

"The man won us the league last year and after a bit of a blip we're questioning whether he should be sacked or not? Why are we so reactionary in football these days?

"We're not in a too dissimilar situation from last season, our start was a little shaky and after a couple of defeats and bad performances we were written off, yet went on to storm the league."

Thibaut Courtois insisted Chelsea stars are fighting for Conte's job after reports emerged they were "unhappy" with his training methods.

But Brown said: "I don’t believe he’s lost the dressing room at all.

"You can see the passion and hunger is still there. The late comeback against Watford showed our spirit and desire and gives us a platform to build on.

"Players are to blame as much as the manager for recent results. I don’t want to point the finger at any one player because there have been a few who've made mistakes or been off their game, but those aside we’ve missed Kante massively since his injury, his energy is crucial to the way we play."

Conte, 48, moaned about his lack of backing in the transfer market.

Brown said: "I don’t think we did bad business this summer, I just don’t think we did enough of it.

"Our signings lowered the age and wage bill of the squad and have all proved to be more than capable, although we’ve still not seen [Danny] Drinkwater yet.

"Whether that was down to players signing elsewhere late in the day, Conte wanting more players or the board not sanctioning them, we all know that at Chelsea transfer business isn’t just the job of the manager."
