England boost as Tammy Abraham set to snub Nigeria and wait for Three Lions call up

Chelsea striker, on loan at Swansea this season, has reportedly told FA chiefs that he is committed to England

TAMMY ABRAHAM has reportedly given England a boost after deciding he will snub Nigeria and wait for a Three Lions call-up.

The Chelsea striker, who is on loan at Swansea, is eligible to play for the Super Eagles through his father who is also a friend of Nigerian FA president Amaju Pinnick.

are reporting that Abraham, 20, has told senior FA chiefs that he is committed to England.

Abraham has won 13 caps for England Under-21s and is willing to wait for a senior call-up rather than joining Nigeria.

The report claims that that call-up could be as soon as the next friendlies against Germany and Brazil after impressing boss Gareth Southgate.

The Three Lions chief was at Swansea's clash with Arsenal on Saturday where Abraham set up Sam Clucas' goal and had one ruled out himself for offside.

Abraham has scored four times since his temporary switch to the Liberty Stadium — and also netted 26 times last season while on loan at Bristol City.

And the FA will breath a sigh of relief if Abraham does wait after seeing a number of top-class players pick Nigeria over the Three Lions.

England youth internationals such as Victor Moses, Alex Iwobi, Sone Aluko, Shola Ameobi and Ola Aina have all picked the African side in recent years.

Abraham could be an outside bet to make the 2018 Russia World Cup squad with striking positions up for grabs this season.
