Newcastle are as inconsistent as they come, but have won three from their last four on home soil and will be hopeful of another three points.

• This is just the fifth league meeting between the sides and only the third in the Premier League – both teams won one game each in the 2015/16 campaign, with Bournemouth winning 3-1 at St. James’ Park in Steve McClaren’s last game in charge of Newcastle.
• The Magpies haven’t beaten Bournemouth at St. James’ Park since February 1990, with a Mick Quinn brace helping them to a 3-0 win – they’ve drawn one and lost one in all competitions since that victory.
• The last home match before Rafa Benitez took charge of Newcastle was a 3-1 defeat to Bournemouth in March 2016 – in the 38 matches he’s managed at St. James’ Park in all competitions, the Magpies have won 25 with a win ratio of 66%, while in the 38 before he took over they won just 13 (34%).
