Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho reveals Nemanja Matic’s agent called him to spark transfer from Chelsea
Mourinho has now revealed nobody was more shocked than him over the move
JOSE MOURINHO has revealed the phone call from Nemanja Matic's agent that sparked his Manchester United move.
The Serbian was sold by Chelsea to their Premier League rivals in a £40million move that had many Blues fans scratching their heads.
But Mourinho says it was Matic's agent that rang him and told him he was available with the Special One more surprised than anyone at the offer.
Mourinho told Sky Sports News: "I was surprised when [Matic’s] agent called me to say 'do you want him?'.
"I was surprised, but he’s an agent I know well. Normally he’s very direct and objective, he doesn’t waste time.
"He doesn’t try to get people to be interested in his players to improve their situation at their club.
"Normally he’s very straightforward, so when he told me 'you can have him if you want', of course I want."
Matic has made a brilliant start to his Old Trafford career and helped the club to second in the Premier League.

And United legend Phil Neville even claimed the person who sanctioned the sale of Matic to Chelsea should be sacked.
Matic returns to Stamford Bridge at the weekend as the Blues look to get one over their former player and manager.

But the midfielder believes he has 'nothing to prove' ahead of the trip.
"When I played there I always gave 100 per cent and we won two title together and two cups.
"I'm sure they'll respect that, but if not I don't really care.
"I feel when I played there, I showed them my quality.
"I don't have to prove to them anything. I just have to prove something to my new club."
