Injuries and passing of time mean only a small group who started in the top flight over the weekend have never received a Three Lions call-up
ENGLAND have exhausted the list of candidates for the senior side to such an extent just 33 players who started in the Premier League last week have never been called up.
Gareth Southgate is desperately trying to put together a group of players he believes can mount a decent challenge at the World Cup next summer.
But his plans have taken a major knock this week with SIX players pulling out of the squad for the friendlies against Germany and Brazil.
With Chelsea defender Gary Cahill also struggling with injury, Southgate could be forced to field a side against world champions Germany missing seven realistic starters.
The England boss has already taken the decision to look and new talents by naming three uncapped players in his original squad.
Tammy Abraham, Joe Gomez and Ruben Loftus-Cheek are all hoping to be involved against the Germans or Brazil.
Now he has been forced to draft Burnley midfielder Jack Cork into his side as he looks around for players who could do a job for him.
Beyond that it appears there is not too much more depth to plunge in looking for players.

For of those qualified to play for England who started in the Premier League over the last match weekend, only 33 have never been tried.
Leicester's Demarai Gray is one who would hope to be knocking on the door for a senior call-up soon if he can continue to develop.
And Everton youngster Tom Davies is another who would hope his performances may continue in an upward curve.
But beyond that the majority of those who have yet to make the grade are players who - if truth be told - never will be good enough for international football.
