Michy Batshuayi withdraws from Belgium squad after foot injury as Jan Vertonghen sits out Mexico friendly
Chelsea striker has headed back to Cobham after picking up a foot injury while Roberto Martinez weighs up playing Tottenham defender
CHELSEA striker Michy Batshuayi has withdrawn from the Belgium squad for their upcoming internationals due to a foot injury and has returned to the Premier League club for treatment.
Roberto Martinez confirmed the Blues striker has been injured and has returned to London for rehab.
Batshuayi, who has scored seven goals in 12 appearances for Chelsea this season, last played for the London club during their 3-0 Champions League defeat by AS Roma last month.
He was benched for their subsequent league win over Manchester United and was controversially not used by Antonio Conte in their 1-0 loss to Manchester City despite Alvaro Morata picking up a hamstring injury.
Belgium play Mexico later on Friday followed by a match against Japan on Tuesday.
Martinez said: "Batshuayi is out for the Mexico game and has left the group to recover at Chelsea, because of an injury to his foot.”

Martinez also said that Tottenham Hotspur defender Jan Vertonghen is ruled of Friday's friendly due to an ankle injury.
The defender could still feature against Japan though, with Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino urging caution over his stars.
Dele Alli, Harry Winks and Harry Kane have all been hauled out of the England squad for the Three Lions' friendlies with Germany and Brazil.
Hugo Lloris has also been withdrawn from the France squad.
