Manchester United stock up on Zlatan Ibrahimovic shirts as Red Devils striker nears Premier League return
Jose Mourinho is set to welcome the 36-year-old back to the first team in the next few weeks, with the club shop expecting a sharp prise in shirt sales
MANCHESTER UNITED have stocked up on Zlatan Ibrahimovic replica shirts at their club shop in preparation for his imminent return.
The 36-year-old is expected back in the next few weeks after a stunning recovery from a career-threatening ACL knee injury.
And United's commercial and marketing team have been anticipating his comeback after this international break.
The Red Devils are working on a social media campaign to herald the Swedish legend, who has been training with the first-team for a number of weeks.
The club shop has also been drafting in more No. 10 shirts, after the ex-PSG star took it over from Wayne Rooney at the end of August.
An Old Trafford source said: “Departments behind the scenes have been preparing for Zlatan's return to action.
“The social media stuff is one thing to get the fans going. There has also been a lot of his replica kits for adults and kids ordered into the shop.
“It is the run up to Christmas, so it's an important time of the year. His return to action has come at the right time if truth be told.”
Ibrahimovic is understood to have taken a hefty pay-cut when he re-signed for United for 12-months in the summer.
He is expected to make up his wages through image rights and other commercial deals because of his huge star power with fans.
