Diego Maradona wants Argentina job back as legend takes swipe at Jorge Sampaoli
Albiceleste lost 4-2 to Nigeria with Sampaoli coming under fire
DIEGO MARADONA wants another crack at the Argentina job.
The Albiceleste legend has called for boss Jorge Sampaoli to quit after the 4-2 friendly defeat to Nigeria.
Argentina scraped through to Russia 2018 after Lionel Messi netted a hat-trick in the final round of South American qualifiers to secure a 3-1 win over Ecuador.
And Maradona, currently in charge of UAE outfit Al Fujairah, took to social media to push his case.
He posted a picture of his win record compared to other Argentina bosses.
He commented: "Who wins more ?? ... let's draw our conclusions, I'm hot because they give away our prestige, but the kids are not to blame. I WANT TO GO BACK!!!"
While Sampaoli's record did not appear in the post, Maradona's is better.
Sampaoli got the job from Edgardo Bauza at the beginning of June and has won just four of his eight matches in charge - leaving his win percentage at 50.
Maradona landed the role back in 2008 and took the Albiceleste to the 2010 World Cup.
