Chelsea gifted soft penalty against Qarabag and even their own fans are surprised
Azerbaijan side were reduced to 10-men following the foul which Eden Hazard dispatched to put the Blues in the driving seat
CHELSEA were gifted a remarkably soft penalty in their Champions League clash with Qarabag which left their opponents down to 10-men.
Rashad Sadygov was adjudged to have pulled back Willian in the box following a pass through on goal by Eden Hazard.
The referee pointed to the spot and Hazard duly delivered, putting Chelsea in cruise control of the match.
But even Chelsea fans thought the decision was harsh and they criticised the referee on Twitter.
One wrote: "very soft penalty, but we will take it either way."
Another Chelsea twitter account wrote: "Nowhere near a red card for me. Was a penalty but not a red."
Journalist Mazola J. Molefe also thought both decisions were harsh. He said: "Soft penalty and red card is harsh. And this is from a Chelsea fan."
