LIONEL MESSI may have won the Golden Shoe award on Friday, but his son stole the show.
Five-year-old Thiago appeared to take a liking to Barcelona forward Luis Suarez at the gala of the Golden Shoe award.
The youngster, armed with a mischievous look in his eyes, charged toward the former Liverpool ace at the front of the ceremony.
He proceeded to fist-bump Suarez, before racing back to his seat next to mother Antonella Roccuzzo.
Thiago then continued to look along the row of chairs towards Suarez as the award ceremony went on.
Whenever the pair shared eye contact, the youngster had to cover his mouth to stop an explosion of laughter.
Messi received his fourth Golden Shoe award after bagging more goals than any other player across all of Europe's major leagues last term.
He netted 37 times in the Spanish top-flight last season for Ernesto Valverde's side.
This achievement means that the Argentina ace has now won the prestigious award as many times as Cristiano Ronaldo.
Suarez, much to the delight of Thiago no doubt, presented his team-mate with the award at the Antigua Fabrica Estrella Damm.
His tally meant he was three clear of his nearest rival in the race for the award - Bas Dost at Sporting Lisbon who struck 34 goals.
Messi thanked the Barcelona squad for helping him score so many and confirmed that he enjoys playing now more than ever.
He said: "I have never considered myself a forward. I have been lucky enough to score goals.
"I have grown both on and off the pitch. I keep improving and adding things to my game, and I enjoy playing more and more."
