NEWCASTLE are reportedly lining up a loan bid for Manchester United outcast Luke Shaw.
The left-back is apparently free to leave the Red Devils in January after failing to impress Jose Mourinho.
There is said to be strong interest in Shaw from Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino, who gave the youngster his first-team break at Southampton.
But claims Newcastle have now joined the race for Shaw’s signature, with Rafa Benitez believed to be a big fan.
The Spaniard is allegedly looking to strengthen his defence this winter and wants to sign Shaw on a short-term deal, as he lacks the funds to secure a permanent one.
United would apparently allow the 22-year-old to leave for St James’ Park on loan, with Shaw still young enough to realise his potential if he's playing regularly.
However, Spurs are reported remain favourites to land the England international, who has been capped seven times by his country.
United are believed to be keen on a move for Danny Rose and may explore a deal for the 27-year-old involving Shaw plus a transfer fee.

Meanwhile, it’s been claimed that Anthony Martial is a surprise target for Real Madrid.
The Spanish champs are said to be preparing an £80million offer, but Mourinho does not want to sell.
