ALEX OXLADE-CHAMBERLAIN could only watch on in horror as his undercover prank horrendously backfired.
Earlier this weekend, the Liverpool midfielder helped out club legend Robbie Fowler, for MBNA's "School of Scouse".
Alongside fellow Reds youngster Dominic Solanke and Andrew Robertson, Oxlade-Chamberlain was sent undercover to the Liverpool club shop to mingle with fans.
With Fowler talking in the players' ears, the Reds stars - dressed as builders - were being totally controlled by "God", as he is known by the Liverpool faithful.
During the hilarious video, Fowler tells Oxlade-Chamberlain to pick up a replica jersey bearing his name and try to flog it to a young fan.
The ex-Arsenal star asks the youngster: "Excuse me son. Do you want to buy this?"
However, the lad quickly responds: "No, thank you".
When pushed further by the Ox, asked if he was sure he didn't want it, he politely said: "I'm sure".

Clearly not deterred by the youngster's rejection, Oxlade-Chamberlain hit back saying: "He's going to be a superstar."
Incredibly, the boy quips back: "One day. Been saying that for ten years, though."

In a desperate bid to spare Oxlade-Chamberlain's blushes, Fowler urges him to tell the kid he's "the best signing of the summer".
However, once again the boy was having none of it, with the midfielder left utterly demoralised.
Oxlade-Chamberlain started for Liverpool at the weekend, as the Reds drew 1-1 with Chelsea at Anfield.
