Ashley Cole insists Arsenal Invincibles would beat Pep Guardiola’s high-flying Manchester City
Ex-Gunners man sickened fans by quitting the Gunners for Chelsea but he might have won some back now
MANCHESTER CITY would lose to the Arsenal ‘Invincibles’ according to former Gunners star Ashley Cole.
The former England defender is persona non grata with Arsenal fans after ditching the club for Chelsea for a massive pay rise.
But he might have won a few Emirates fans back by insisting Arsenal’s undefeated 2003-04 team would beat Pep Guardiola’s current dream team.
Speaking to ESPN, Cole said: “I think the ‘Invincibles’ would win. No bias.
“I’m not sure about the similarities. But so far they have the zero for losses, so you can compare on that front.
“They’ve clicked and connected. But it’s tough to go 38 games unbeaten. Can they do it? Who knows but it’s looking good for them so far.”
Guardiola has insisted his side will not go the whole league campaign unbeaten – but they look like they could have the title won by the New Year.
After his side’s narrow 2-1 win over Huddersfield – where they showed they could ground out a comeback win as well as demolish side – the City boss flattened talk of another unbeaten run.

He said: “We are going to lose, that is going to happen. Definitely.
"Today was so close that it's going to happen.
“Playing one day a week, maybe I would tell you it would be difficult to drop points.
"But when you play every three days, when you see the schedule for December and January - now we go to [Shakhtar] Donetsk to play the Champions League - it's impossible.
"We are going to lose but how we react during that game and after the game. That is important.”
