NATHAN Redmond has denied an expert lip reader's claims that Pep Guardiola called him a w****r in a fiery on pitch bust-up.
Redmond admitted Guardiola was "intense and aggressive " but insisted he was "very complimentary and positive" when he came on the pitch at the end of Wednesday's clash.
Guardiola was caught on camera talking with Redmond following Manchester City’s dramatic 2-1 win at the Etihad on Wednesday night.
Redmond replied to the City manager - whose team sit eight points clear at the top of the table - but his words were not seen as he covered his face with his hand.
The hugely successful Guardiola insisted after the match: “I was telling Nathan Redmond how good he is at the end.
"Southampton have some super talented players, Redmond is so good one against one.
"But they didn't want to play, they were time wasting from the ninth minute. I just wanted them to play."
The lip reader, who has worked for the Met Police, Prison Service and the NHS, has revealed what she believes was said during the animated exchange.
City deny Guardiola swore at the Saints ace, and claim he would not even know what the phrase 'mug' would have meant.
LIP READER'S VERDICT ON WHAT PEP SAID
0:06: -- goes away.
0:07: What the f*** you playing at --
0:09: -- and take me for a mug.
0:14: You quit?
0:15: You ready to stop playing?
0:16: What were you going to say?
0:20: W****r
A spokesman said: "We completely dispute that version of events."
A source close to Redmond denied Pep swore at the player and claimed the animated conversation was all "super positive".
City restored their eight-point lead at the top of the table thanks to Raheem Sterling’s dramatic last-gasp winner.
They now have the Premier League record for the most wins after 14 games following the dramatic result.

Speaking after the match, a more composed Pep said: “It was an astonishing end to the game. It means a lot. They had 10 guys in the box, it was so complicated to attack them.
"They had chances in the first half, all the teams are better than us at set-pieces. They are stronger than us but we kept patient.
"At the end our momentum kept going, Raheem scores a fantastic goal.
"What impresses the most is the heart with which they play. What happened in the locker room was amazing.
"You have to enjoy these situations, you never know what will happen in the future. We want to win the league but you have to celebrate when you score in the last breath like that."
Nathan Redmond statement in full
"I've just seen this story and felt I had to say something and clear a few things that are floating around right now.
"I want to make it absolutely clear that the Man City manager Pep Guardiola did not say what The Sun is falsely claiming in this story.
"Yes he was very passionate, intense and aggressive but he was only very complimentary and positive to me.
"He commented on my qualities as a young English player and how he wanted me to attack his team more during the game in a similar way to last season.
"I told him I was doing what my manager had asked me to do in the game.
"That's it. Nothing more, nothing less.
"Nothing negative or offensive was said towards me from Pep and that's what makes him one of the best managers in world football.
"Losing the game we did in the last kick of the game after working so hard for 90+ minutes I was very disappointment [sic] but when one of the world's best managers compliments you or gives advice in any way, you listen.
"Sadly this story is an example of lazy journalism and is a complete joke.
"It does no favours to the sports journalists in the game that I like, happily work with and genuinely respect.
"The focus for me now is regrouping with the Saints ready for a big performance this Sunday in the v Bournemouth."
