Davinson Sanchez straight red card for Tottenham sparks outrage
A number of fans said the Spurs man should never have seen red for foul on Richarlison while others thought it was a clear sending off
DAVINSON SANCHEZ'S straight red card for Spurs sparked outrage online.
The Tottenham star was sent off for an elbow on Watford man Richarlison.
Colombia star Sanchez was given his marching orders on the 51st minute with the score 1-1.
But fan opinion was sharply split on whether or not the collision warranted a red.
Robbie Savage said: "That is never, ever a red card. He's not swung the elbow."
But former referee Graham Poll commented: "Red card for me. Does he strike the opponent? Yes he does."
But one Twitter user said: "No debates about this. Davinson Sanchez's elbow on Richarlison was as stupid as it gets and he deservedly gets his marching orders."
Another said: "Cynical more than violent to block Richarlison but right in front of dugout and it looked a red in real-time. But referee has been lenient throughout game and he could have given yellow."
A fellow user said: "Davinson Sanchez sent off. You can't elbow a person in the face and expect to get away with it."
