Everton boss Sam Allardyce set to swoop for unsettled Sevilla star Steven N’Zonzi, following major fall-out with boss Eduardo Berizzo
EVERTON boss Sam Allardyce is set to swoop for unsettled Sevilla star Steven N'Zonzi... following a major fall-out with boss Eduardo Berizzo.
Big Sam worked with the French defensive midfielder, 28, during their time together at Blackburn between 2009 and 2010.
N'Zonzi played 49 times at Rovers under Allardyce... with the boss knowing just what he could bring to the Toffees.
The two-cap France international has gone from strength-to-strength since leaving the Premier League - having also played for Stoke between 2012 and 2015.
Midfield star N'Zonzi joined Sevilla in 2015, helping the Spaniards win the Europa League title that very season.
Since then, the midfielder has appeared to be a different animal altogether - becoming a key member in the Sevilla XI.
He even earned his first-ever senior cap for France in November, in a 2-0 win over Wales.
N'Zonzi, a summer target for Serie A giants Juventus, recently signed a new deal to stay at Sevilla until 2020.

However, the player fell out with boss Berizzo last month, after reacting poorly to being substituted in the Champions League clash with Liverpool.
Ex-Premier League star N'Zonzi has reportedly been forced to train alone, while also being left out of matchday squads for games against Villarreal and Cartagena.

With N'Zonzi's future up in the air, new Everton boss Allardyce could be angling for some midfield steel.
The Toffees underwent a major overhaul in the summer transfer window, with Ronald Koeman splurging close to £150million on new players.
However, a horror start to 2017-18 saw Koeman sacked, with Big Sam eventually taking over the helm from struggling interim boss David Unsworth.
Allardyce won his first game in charge of Everton on Saturday, as they beat Huddersfield 2-0 at Goodison Park.
