Newcastle outcast Aleksandar Mitrovic could return to ex-club Anderlecht in January as he struggles for first-team action

Reports in Belgian claim the Serbian striker is frustrated with the lack of games and is considering his options

ALEKSANDAR MITROVIC is considering rejoining Anderlecht in January, according to reports in Belgium.

The Serbian striker has been frozen out by Newcastle boss Rafa Benitez due to lack of trust over his disciplinary problems on the pitch.

are claiming Mitrovic, 23, would prefer to stay on Tyneside but wants regular first team football to ensure his place in Serbia's World Cup squad next year.

Mitrovic has played just 255 minutes with his relationship with Benitez breaking down after his retrospective three-game ban for elbowing Manuel Lanzini at the start of the season.

Anderlecht reportedly wanted a permanent deal in the summer but have been encouraged by the Magpies relaxing their demands to a loan deal in the winter window.

Mitrovic is also said to be keen on a return to the Constant Vanden Stock Stadium because he believes he is guaranteed first-team football.
