Manchester United news: Jose Mourinho holds crisis talks with Marouane Fellaini in last-ditch attempt to get him to sign new deal
Belgium midfielder is out of contract in the summer and is free to talk to European clubs when the transfer window opens in January
JOSE MOURINHO has held crisis talks with Marouane Fellaini - in a last-ditch bid to get him to sign a new Manchester United deal.
The Belgium midfielder is out-of-contract next summer, and free to speak to European clubs in January.
The 30-year-old is wanted by a number of sides, including French giants PSG and Turkish outfit Besiktas.
But Mourinho sat down with the ex-Everton ace to try and convince him to stay at Old Trafford.
He was assured him would continue to get plenty of playing time, after becoming an influential figure this season.
It is understood United have offered Fellaini a two-year deal worth around £130,000-a-week.
There is also thought it be the option on the Red Devils' side to extend that by a further 12 months.
An Old Trafford source said: "In the last few days Jose has tried to get him to stay at the club during contract talks.

"The boss promised to speak with the board on his behalf and asked if it is now just a matter of cash.
"Jose told him that he will continue to get plenty of playing opportunities under him at United.
"He may have already made up his mind but Jose is convinced he can still get him to change it and stay here."
Fellaini is also winning his fitness battle ahead of the Manchester derby against bitter rivals City this afternoon.
Mourinho's men go into the clash on the back of some decent Premier League form after beating Arsenal 3-1 last weekend.
