Chelsea were chasing the Juve full-back all summer, but the Italian champions demanded a staggering £80million for the Brazilian international.

Sandro, 26, was hoping a deal could be done between the clubs without having to kick up a fuss to force through the move.

The defender’s relationship with the Serie A champions has deteriorated as the season has gone on.

Juve could be forced to sell their prized asset before facing Tottenham in the Champions League in February.

Blues boss Antonio Conte is desperate to add a top quality left sided defender so he can rotate Marcos Alonso in the highly demanding wing-back role.

The Premier League champions will look to take advantage of the broken relationship between Sandro and the club.

The Blues will table a significantly lower bid than the £80m quoted in July.

SAND STORM Alex Sandro profile: How Chelsea target rose from Santos reserves to brink of move from Juventus to Stamford Bridge

Manchester United had targeted Sandro as a priority in January with Jose Mourinho searching for an alternative to Spurs defender Danny Rose.

The Old Trafford top brass know they will find it tough to do any business with Spurs chief Daniel Levy, as they found out when they enquired about Eric Dier in the summer.

Losing out on Sandro to Conte will be a huge blow for Mourinho, who is keen to offload Luke Shaw.
