NEWCASTLE striker Ivan Toney was racially abused by a Wigan ‘fan’ where he is currently on a season-long loan.
The 21-year-old was attacked on Sunday by the account @BallerBurn – a Twitter user with a list of previous accounts to suggest a history of trolling and banned guises.
Toon star Toney blocked the warped bully and re-posted the message – along with the user’s profile - to highlight the problem.
Alongside the unpublishable three-word phrase Toney was attacked with, he wrote: “I would like to see this person face to face to see what they get from this kind of nonsense.”
A long list of Newcastle and Wigan fans sent Toney messages of support and Latics fans distanced themselves from the spiteful social media user.
One Wigan fan went through the offender’s account and found a photo of some match tickets he had purchased and asked the club to track the assailant down using his order number.
Dozens of Twitter users contacted Lancashire police to alert them to the issue. And chairman David Sharpe was also included on a selection of Tweets that demanded action be taken.
Wigan said: "This account has been blocked for some time by the club. We will work with to ensure this behaviour is dealt with strongly. We take this very seriously and strongly condemn these actions."

The offending @BallerBurn account appeared to be closed on Sunday evening.
SunSport contacted Lancashire Police for comment but had not heard back as of 17:00 on Sunday.
@ectotoad wrote: “Omg, didn’t realise biggots like this were still breeding, apologies on behalf of humanity, he is not of this world Ivan”
@ElliotLittler said: “Disgrace to our club, football and humanity, believe me Ivan when I say he in no way represents us! #wafc”
Newcastle fan Alex Richardson said: “Shocking lad. Good to see a footballer stand up to this. @LaticsOfficial get him banned. @NUFC wouldn’t tolerate”
