RAFA BENITEZ is eyeing Dimitri Oberlin to bolster Newcastle’s firepower.
The Toon boss has the Red Bull Salzburg striker, 20, currently on loan at Basel, on his radar for January.
Oberlin played in Basel’s Champions League win over Manchester United and has been tracked by Old Trafford scouts.
But Benitez is in pole position to sign the Swiss star, who scored four goals in the group stages.
Oberlin is valued at £20million and Benitez is looking to boost his attack — but must offload Aleksandar Mitrovic.
Mo Diame may be on the way out of St James’ Park after struggling for regular games this season.
The Newcastle midfielder, 30, is wanted by Turkish sides Goztepe and Sivasspor in a £2.5m deal.
With only one full season left on his deal, Toon risk losing the ex-West Ham star for free in 2019.
