Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho given go-ahead for £60m raid on Juventus for Alex Sandro

MANCHESTER UNITED are set to join the race to sign £60million Juventus full-back Alex Sandro, according to reports.

The Brazilian has long-been linked with a switch to Chelsea with Antonio Conte a big admirer, with the Blues making a £65m bid in the summer, which was turned down.

But now the Old Lady are reportedly ready to cut their losses after the 26-year-old’s form has tailed off this season, with the full-back's form reportedly dipping after Chelsea's summer interest.

According to the , United are set to make a £60m bid for the left back in January.

Sandro has been in and out of the Juventus team but played the full 90 minutes in their 3-0 win at Bologna yesterday.

Ashley Young has been playing on the left side of defence this season, with Luke Shaw given scant game time.

And Tottenham’s Danny Rose has also been a target for United after his recent return to Mauricio Pochettino’s first team, following injury.

But United would be heading down a difficult road if they want to deal with Spurs chairman Daniel Levy.

Sandro could be a far more straightforward deal, especially in a January transfer window.

Matteo Darmian, who has also played left-back under Jose Mourinho, looks destined to leave United after an abysmal outing in the Champions League in their 1-0 defeat to Basel.

And Mourinho has been told he has to clear the decks and cut some dead weight if he wants to make any signings.
