Johnson, 36, is not only hoping to get some wisdom from the Special One - but is also hoping his £450 investment doesn't go to waste.

The Robins boss has splashed out on a bottle of Barca Velha Red 2004, said to be a favourite of the Manchester United manager.

Bristol City play United for the first time since 1989 in the Carabao Cup quarter-final, in what is expected to be a full house at Ashton Gate.

Johnson, who has led his team to eight wins in the last 10 matches, told BBC Sport: "I have had to raid my little girl's piggy bank.

"It is being flown in especially from Portugal."

He added: "We have done the due diligence and realised Jose likes this particular bottle that has to be poured by an expert.

"So hopefully he'll come in and have a little chat with me and I'll try to pick his brain for five or 10 minutes.

However, despite the chance at cup glory, Robins defender Aden Flint said the squad are focused on promotion.

"This is a big game but it is probably the least important of the month, given where we want to be and where we are in the league," he said.

"It is exciting to play against them... if we are where we want to be at the end of the season, we'll be playing against teams like United every week next season."
