West Ham eyeing Janaury move for Leganes star Gabriel Pires as David Moyes hunt for midfielder hots up

Brazilian midfielder is in his second season in Spain after a successful year on loan from Juventus and his performances for the Madrid based side have caught the attention of the Hammers

WEST HAM are considering a swoop Leganes star Gabriel Pires next month.

The Brazilian playmaker is wanted in East London as David Moyes looks to start making his own stamp on the squad he inherited from sacked Slaven Bilic and has made adding to his midfield options a priority.

The Hammers top brass have made contact with the Spanish side and are prepared to do business in January with a cut-price £4.8million switch, according to .

Failing that the Premier League outfit are happy to take the player on an initial loan stint costing £1.6m with an £8m fee at the end of the season.

The Madrid based club are desperate to hold on to their star man as they look to establish themselves during their second season in La Liga.

The Brazilian joined Los Legionarios from Juventus last summer after a successful year on loan helping the minnows survive relegation.

Gabriel is under contract until 2021 with a buy-out clause of £17m and coach Asier Garitano has built his midfield around the player who has scored three goals in 15 La Liga games.
