But now Hause finds himself out of favour at Molineux and might welcome a move.

David Wagner and Marco Silva are weighing up offers to take advantage of Hause having 18 months left on his current deal with the Championship leaders.

Wolves risk losing Hause for free at the end of next season and may consider offers of around £2.5million this month.

Wagner is aware of Hause from last season in the second tier when he was a regular in the Wolves first team.

Watford boss Silva is also looking for cover at centre-back and Hause has been earmarked as a homegrown talent that could be landed at a price.

The ex-Wycombe defender, who joined Wolves four years ago, is seen as a player with resale value if he breaks into the first team.

Huddersfield are at Leicester City on New Year's Day.

Championship leaders Wolves entertain Brentford on January 2.
