MANCHESTER CITY have been in a league of their own this season, ripping teams to shreds with utter disdain at times.
Pep Guardiola has led his side to an unprecedented 12-point lead at the top of the Premier League after 21 games, with a game in hand over second-placed Manchester United.
But it's not just this season they've been thriving, it was the entirety of 2017.
In fact, during the calendar year, no team in the entire 92-team Football League amassed a better points per game tally than City, at 2.45.

Somewhat incredibly, it's a Premier League 1-2-3, as Chelsea and Tottenham come in just behind City - with a 2.23 and 2.18 points per game record, respectively.
The big-name trio are also the only three clubs in all of England to average over two points per game in 2017.
League Two side Lincoln City are the first non-Prem side in the table, sitting above Sheffield United with 1.96 and 1.94 points per game apiece.

Manchester United are a surprising entry in sixth place, above another League Two outfit, Luton Town - on 1.93 and 1.88 points per game respectively.
Wolves (1.87 points per game), Portsmouth and Arsenal (both 1.85) complete the diverse top ten, ahead of Liverpool (also 1.85) only on number of wins.

The rest of the table is an equally remarkable read, with teams including Bradford, Cardiff, Exeter, Accrington Stanley, Scunthorpe and Notts County in the top 20.
While the top of the table has a strong Premier League flavour, there are also a hatful of top-flight sides in the bottom 20.
In fact, Stoke, Crystal Palace, West Ham, Southampton, Bournemouth, Watford and West Brom all feature in the bottom handful.
But it's the Baggies who come off worst of the Prem boys, with a meagre 0.88 points per game - good for 89th in the entire country.
Sunderland, though, are far and away the worst team in England based on points per game in 2017.
The Black Cats earned just 0.73 points per outing last year - behind Chesterfield (0.79) and Birmingham (0.81).
