Stoke sign Moussa Niakate from Paris FC as managerless Potters make their first signing of the window

French left-back, 21, has been on loan at the club and will go straight into their under-23 squad for Monday's clash against Norwich

STOKE have made Moussa Niakate their first signing this month.

The French left-back, 21, has been on trial with the managerless Potters and has earned a move from French side Paris FC.

He is set to play for the club's under-23 side in Monday night's Premier league 2 clash with Norwich.

Academy director Gareth Jennings said: “We are really pleased to have brought Moussa to the club and look forward to seeing him develop.

“He’s been on trial with us for a while now which has given him time to get to know the club and he’s really looking forward to getting started now that we have completed the formalities of his move.”

Niakate joins a rudderless Stoke, who in the bottom three of the Premier League and without a manager.

Mark Hughes was axed after the humiliating FA Cup third-round defeat at Coventry on Saturday.

The club today placed Eddie Niedzwiecki in charge of the first team as they look to find a new manager.

Niedzwiecki took training on Monday after Hughes and fellow ex-Wales international Mark Bowen left the Potters' coaching staff.

The club hope to have a new manager in place for their Prem trip to Manchester United on Monday January 15.

Stoke are keen to speak to Derby boss Gary Rowett and Republic of Ireland chief Martin O'Neill about the post.
