MANCHESTER UNITED have agreed a deal with Alexis Sanchez over a stunning January transfer, according to reports.

The Chilean, whose Arsenal contract runs out in the summer, appeared close to joining Manchester City in this window.

However, reports of last-minute interest from United has gathered pace in recent days — which could be a ploy to get a better deal at the Etihad.

And Sky Sport Italia are now reporting that the Red Devils have agreed a financial package with Sanchez.

If true, it means a fee with Arsenal would be the only stumbling block preventing the former Barcelona man moving to Old Trafford.

Sanchez looked to be on course to join City in the summer window, with Pep Guardiola keen.

However, Arsenal's failure to land Thomas Lemar from Monaco as a replacement saw the deal fall through.

It looked like City would wait until summer, but an injury to Gabriel Jesus means they may have to act sooner than first anticipated.

Arsenal fans would presumably rather their star player moved to the Etihad than to United, given previous transactions between the two.
