Manchester United receive Eric Bailly injury boost as Ander Herrera provides positive update
Jose Mourinho has been without his Ivory Coast star since November after the defender was forced to undergo ankle surgery
ANDER HERRERA has provided a positive injury update on Eric Bailly - and his Manchester United team-mate's recovery appears to going just swimmingly.
Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho confirmed last month that the defender had been sent for surgery on his ankle.
The 23-year-old picked up the blow while on international duty with Ivory Coast back in November.
And he was not expected to be back available for United until March.
Mourinho's medical team have tried to use "conservative" treatment in an attempt to get Bailly back sooner.
However, the Portuguese coach revealed later that the centre-half would be out for up to three months.
He told MUTV: "He goes to surgery, the decision is made.
"I don't say for the rest of the season but it's for the next two or three months."
MONEY G-EYM United ready to beat Real Madrid to sign Neymar
But Old Trafford supporters will have been boosted today after Spaniard Herrera decided to provide them with a glimpse of Bailly on his road to recovery.
And he looks to be making great progress as he got down to business in the swimming pool.
The video Herrera shared was captioned with: "Come on Eric Bailly, not long left."
The Manchester united squad have been in Dubai this for some warm weather training.
Bailly did not travel with his colleagues as he remained in the North West to continue his rehabilitation.
The footage will also have given Mourinho a boost too.
Phil Jones and Chris Smalling have both performed well in Bailly's absence.
But there is no doubting that the Special One will have missed the presence of the man he signed from Villarreal in June 2016.
United return to action on Monday evening when Stoke City travel to the Theatre of Dreams.
