And no sooner had the final whistle blown at the Amex Stadium, the Belgium captain took his shirt off and marched over to the applauding crowd.

The 27-year-old had clearly noticed a youngster sat in the home section holding up his home-made sign pleading for his jersey.

Hazard had somehow managed to spot the A4 piece of paper with the message "Hazard 10 - Can i please have your shirt" scrawled on it.

So he made the supporter's day by handing over his shirt and giving him a cuddle for good measure, much to the delight of his families and those nearby.

Brighton 0-4 Chelsea: Eden Hazard and co run riot at the Amex as they send Seagulls closer to the relegation zone

Chelsea had shrugged off their poor run of form in recent weeks to make the ideal start on the South Coast - with Hazard leading the charge with a man of the match performance.

The playmaker made sure there were no worries about scoring goals without Alvaro Morata when he drilled in the opening goal just three minutes in.

And any hopes Chris Hughton's side had of mounting a second half comeback were ended by Hazard firing home his second.

Victor Moses completed the scoring to leave the Seagulls looking anxiously over their shoulders at the relegation zone in the Premier League.

Interview by Sky Sports after the match, Hazard said: "We started the game very well. We need to do more like this week after week.

"It's my job to score. Every game I try to score goals that's why I play football."
