And now the Blues have approached the Foxes to try and sign the Algerian on loan, according to .

Slimani fits the bill of what Conte is looking for and would be eligible for the Champions League.

The 29-year-old cost Leicester £26.5m from Sporting Lisbon in the summer of 2016.

However, he has only scored eight goals in 25 top-flight appearances during his time at the King Power.

But they have no interest in allowing him to exit on loan and would prefer any deal to be permanent.

Conte has pushed the Chelsea board to get him another experienced striker ever since he took charge at Stamford Bridge.

Following the departure of Diego Costa in the summer, Alvaro Morata was brought in as his replacement but the Spaniard is massively out of form.

Michy Batshuyai has failed to shine when given an opportunity in attack and Conte is willing to let the Belgian leave on loan this month – as long as gets another forward first.

West Ham’s Andy Carroll appeared to be on his way across London to join the Blues in a surprise move earlier this month.

However, the towering England international’s move was scuppered after he was ruled out for three months with a hairline fracture.

The Blues have also enquired about a loan move for Stoke City veteran Peter Crouch but were rebuffed by the struggling Potters.

Meanwhile, they are attempting to bring Edin Dzeko back to England from Roma.
