CHELSEA are closing in on a deal worth more than £30million for Roma striker Edin Dzeko.
The Premier League champions have agreed a basic fee of around £28m for the former Manchester City forward and are now haggling over additional payments.
Talks have been ongoing over the weekend.
And the Blues are also close to securing a deal for Roma’s Brazil-born Italian left-back Emerson Palmieri, 23, in a double boost for boss Antonio Conte.
Roma director Francesco Totti even joked with Bosnian Dzeko, 31, that he was London-bound as Roma boarded a train to last night’s 1-1 draw with Inter Milan.
Roma want Chelsea to cough up a further £5m in additional payments for Dzeko, based on his number of appearances.
It is hoped an agreement can be reached within the next two or three days.
If the Stamford Bridge hierarchy cannot do the deal, Burnley’s Ashley Barnes has been linked as a surprise back-up option.
Roma have been offered Chelsea’s Michy Batshuayi in return on loan.

But he will be cup-tied for the Champions League and the Londoners want guarantees about appearances for their young Belgian striker.
Batshuayi, 21, has hardly figured since joining Chelsea in July 2016 but is still thought to have a bright future at the club.
