PHIL NEVILLE has been named as the new England women’s head coach.
The 41-year-old replaced interim boss Mo Marley, who was at the helm following Mark Sampson’s sacking last year.
Neville has been handed a contract until 2021, meaning he’ll be in charge during that year’s Uefa Women’s Championship tournament.
And the former Manchester United and Everton man is delighted to have landed his first role as a gaffer.
He said: “This squad’s on the verge of something special and I believe I can lead them to the next level.
“I am honoured to be given the chance to lead England. With the new coaching team we are putting in place, we can help the players build on their great progress in recent years.
“I can’t wait to get out on the training pitch and down to work with an elite group of players at the top of their game.
“There is no greater honour than representing your country and it will be a privilege to do it again.”

England are currently ranked third in the world rankings and are looking to put Sampson’s controversial sacking behind them.
Neville has a host of experience to draw upon, most notably from his time at Valencia, and he is sure to fancy his chances in next year’s World Cup in France.
