Rams have now won only one of last four league matches but have not lost since end of November
TIM CAHILL watched on as his new side Millwall battled to a hard-fought point.
The Aussie star, 38, made a fairytale return to the Lions on Tuesday 14 years after his first spell at the club and was paraded before kick-off.
He will have liked what he saw in terms of the spirit shown by his new team-mates against a high-flying Derby team unbeaten in their last nine league games.
But Cahill will hope to add more cutting edge to the South Londoners’ attack as they rarely threatened Scott Carson’s goal in a game scarce of chances.
Millwall chief Neil Harris had labelled the Rams in his programme notes as “every bit of good as Wolves for the division we’re in”.
But Gary Rowett’s outfit, while as solid as ever, failed to match that sky-high praise from an attacking perspective.
The closest Derby came to netting came through top scorer Matej Vydra, whose shot from six yards was brilliantly blocked by Shaun Hutchinson.
The hosts felt they should have had a spot-kick on 24 minutes when Curtis Davies caught Lee Gregory in the face with a high foot — but nothing was given.
Lions’ Jed Wallace and Rams’ Cameron Jerome had half-chances to win it but both were denied by solid stops.
