Huddersfield Town defender Michael Hefele is wanted by a host of Championship clubs on loan

German defender has not featured in the Premier League since second game of campaign at home to Newcastle

HUDDERSFIELD TOWN defender is being chased by a posse of Championship clubs on loan.

The German stopper played a huge part in the Terriers promotion to the Premier League last season making 42 appearances.

However, the 27-year-old has been one of the casualties of boss David Wagner’s summer recruitment and has made just one league outing this term.

He has not been able to break up first-choice defensive pairing of Christopher Schindler and Mathias Jorgensen.

Hefele was fault for Birmingahm City’s equaliser at the John Smith’s Stadium on Saturday and was quick to apologise to his team-mates.

He said: “The first half we played very well and created some chances and we should have won the game 1-0.

“I did this mistake and I am sorry for the team because they worked very hard.

“I want to play out from the back and it goes a little bit wrong. He takes the shot and it goes directly in the corner."

A host of Championship outfits have contacted the Yorkshire side enquiring about deadline day loan move with a view to a permanent deal in the summer.

Hefele moved to Yorkshire from Dynamo Dresden on a free transfer in 2016.
