Former Manchester City And Arsenal right-back Bacary Sagna joins Serie A bottom side Benevento

Frenchman had been without club since being released by Pep Guardiola in summer, but will now begin adventure in Italy

BACARY SAGNA has agreed a deal to sign for Benevento, according to reports in Italy.

The French right-back has been without a club since being released by Manchester City in the summer.

But report he has now signed for Serie A's bottom side, Benevento.

Sagna joined Arsenal from Auxerre in 2007 and quickly established himself as one of the best right-backs in the Premier League.

He was twice named in the Team of the Year and won the FA Cup in his final season with the Gunners in 2014.

That year, he moved to City — and won the  in 2016.

However, after a season under Pep Guardiola, the Spanish coached decided the Frenchman didn't fit his system and allowed him to leave in the summer.

But Sagna will need to produce something special if he is to prevent his new side being relegated.

Benevento set a new European record by losing their opening 14 matches of the season, before goalkeeper Alberto Brignoli scored a dramatic last-gasp equaliser for their first point against AC Milan.

Though there has been a slight upturn in form with two wins in the seven subsequent games, they remain 12 points from safety.
