Michy Batshuayi reveals why he joined Borussia Dortmund… because he loves Spongebob and Batman

On-loan Chelsea striker joked the German club's trademark yellow and black colours was the reason why he put pen-to-paper on a deal until the end of the season

MICHY BATSHUAYI revealed Borussia Dortmund's tradition black and yellow colours convinced him to join the club... because he likes Spongebob Square Pants and Batman.

The on-loan Chelsea striker wasted no time in impressing his new side by bagging two on his debut in a win over Cologne.

The Belgian international was free to leave the Blues on transfer deadline day with Olivier Giroud heading to Stamford Bridge.

Dortmund moved quickly to snap him up and Batshuayi jumped at the chance to join because he'll be able to din his favourite colours.

He told reporters: "I love black and yellow.

"Black and yellow is Batman, black and yellow is Spongebob!”

Batshuayi joked after his move that he will succeed Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to become the club's new Batman. 

The Gabon striker, who left the Bundesliga side for Arsenal on transfer deadline day,  became well known in Germany for his goal celebrations involving wearing superhero masks.

Aubameyang even teamed up with team-mate Marco Reus after scoring against Schalke in 2015, as the duo donned Batman and Robin masks.

And Batshuayi took to Twitter to reveal he has taken it upon himself to become the next superhero for Peter Stoger's side after joining on loan u til the end of the season.

He said: "Heard the Batman job was vacant @BVB so I decided to take over."
