Liverpool draft in goalkeeping expert Hans Leitert to help Loris Karius and Simon Mignolet
It is unlikely to prevent boss Jurgen Klopp from signing a new shot stopper in the summer
LIVERPOOL have drafted in goalkeeping specialist Hans Leitert to improve Loris Karius and Simon Mignolet's performances.
The Austrian arrives in Merseyside highly regarded having previously worked at Tottenham and Red Bull Salzburg.
Leitert will work alongside coach John Acherterg, who remains a hugely popular figure at Liverpool.
The Reds have been heavily criticised for the lack of quality between the sticks in recent seasons.
Boss Jurgen Klopp has continued to rotate both Mignolet and Karius with the latter currently holding the No1 jersey.
The German gaffer is expected to make a move for a new stopper in the summer with the likes of Jack Butland and Jan Oblak previously linked.
According to the Liverpool ECHO, Leitert has worked as a consultant for the club's scouting department since 2016.
But he will provide invaluable advice and support to Acherterg in a bid to share the workload.

Karius, 24, now has the chance to cement his place as Klopp's No1 but is fully aware a string of mistakes will force Klopp to open the cheque book in the summer.
Meanwhile midfielder Emre Can is braced to join Juventus on a free transfer at the end of the season.
