Chelsea considering Marco Silva as Antonio Conte replacement if they sack under-fire Italian before the end of the season
Reports suggest that if there is another bad result, the Chelsea board could act and get rid of Conte and bring in a caretaker boss.
CHELSEA are reportedly considering Marco Silva as a short-term replacement for Antonio Conte — if they sack the Italian before the end of the season.
Conte has suffered a fall from grace since winning the title last season and the pressure is mounting after defeats to Bournemouth and Watford.
Former Watford chief Marco Silva has been named as a potential candidate to try and get the Blues back on track and finish the season strongly.
The Blues would also give the Blues more time to identify a long-term replacement with the likes of ex-Barcelona man Luis Enrique and Napoli manager Maurizio Sarri on their radar.
Conte could be looking for another job if his team do not get a result at home to West Brom tonight.
But Conte has told Roman Abramovich it would be 'stupid' to wield the axe after such a short period.
Conte said: “You continue to work with a manager or coach not because of what he achieves in one season, but because you trust in him.

"Then you build something with him.
“That doesn’t mean you have to win something because that’s not simple. Not easy. Especially in England.
“But in my vision you can win, yet at the same time the club might not be happy to stay with you and for this reason it’s right to send the coach away.
"[Or] you can trust in a coach and his work and continue with him even if you don’t win, and try and build something important.
There are two ways. There is a stupid way and an intelligent way.”
