are claiming that Shakhtar blocked a move in January but negotiations have continued and a deal will see Fred, 24, join on July 1.

Fred joined the Ukrainian club back in 2013 when Fernandinho joined City but will now compete against his fellow Brazilian at the Etihad.

The report goes on to claim that City will also move for Philippe Sandler, who is a Holland Under-20s defender from PEC Zwolle.

PSG youth player Claudio Gomes, 17, is also being monitored closely by City chiefs.
