LIVERPOOL cruised to another comfortable win as they dismantled a resigned-looking Southampton 2-0 at St Mary's on Sunday.

Jurgen Klopp had usual suspects Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino to thank for the victory.

Firstly, Salah jinked inside and squared the ball to Firmino to sweep the ball into the back of the net just six minutes in to make it 1-0.

Then, the Brazilian star repaid the favour, setting up the Egyptian speedster to make it 2-0 before the break, as Liverpool enabled cruise control for the rest of the game.

In scoring a goal apiece, the Reds duo became the Premier League's most deadly duo this season.

As Sergio Aguero and Raheem Sterling combined to score all five of Manchester City's goals against Leicester, the Eastlands pairing briefly held the top spot.

Aguero and Sterling took their combined goals tally in all competitions to 48, thanks in no small part to Kevin De Bruyne's utterly outrageous creative play.

However, Firmino and Salah took their spot at the top of the standings once more after a goal apiece took their 2017-18 tally to 49.

In fact, that total is second in all of Europe's Big Five leagues, behind only Paris Saint-Germain superstar duo Neymar and Edinson Cavani.

The PSG pair have combined for 56 strikes this season, far and away the No1 partnership on the continent.

Aguero and Sterling are third in all of Europe - and second in England - both ahead of fourth-placed Barcelona duo Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez.

The La Liga pair have netted a combined 46 goals in 2017-18 in all competitions.

Meanwhile, Tottenham pair Harry Kane and Son Heung-min have linked-up for 43 goals so far this term - as the England ace scored the winner in Saturday's North London derby.

Liverpool pair Salah and Firmino will next have the chance to bolster their season tally when they take on Porto in the Champions League on Wednesday.
