ORIOL ROMEU insists Mauricio Pellegrino is not to blame for Southampton’s drop into the relegation zone.

The Argentine boss is clinging on to his job and was booed by Saints fans during Sunday’s 2-0 home defeat by Liverpool.

But Romeu says it is the players who must take the blame for a miserable run of just one win in 14 Premier League games.

The former Chelsea man said: “The team is still behind the manager.

“It’s not the manager’s fault. We are the ones who are playing and it is our responsibility to change these results.

“I still believe we can get out of the bottom three but it is going to be very tight right to the end of the season.
