The former Barcelona forward received widespread praise for his performance against the European champions last week, despite the fact that Real won 3-1 on the night.

PSG need a 2-0 win or better in the second leg at Parc des Princes on March 6 to progress to the quarter finals, after two goals from Cristiano Ronaldo and a late third from Marcelo.

Adrien Rabiot had given PSG the lead at the Bernabeu, giving the Ligue 1 leaders hope they would cause a thrilling upset.

But Real's late treble put paid to those hopes and Unai Emery's side must now re-group for the second leg in Paris.
