SERGIO AGUERO is free to face Arsenal in Sunday's Carabao Cup Final after escaping an FA punishment over his confrontation with a Wigan fan.

The Manchester City striker hit the headlines after a confrontation with a supporter following the shock FA Cup defeat against the League One side last night.

Aguero, 29, appeared to be punched by a fan following a pitch invasion at full time, and today claimed the individual told him to "suck my d***" and spat in his ear.

But the star has been cleared of any wrongdoing.

FA chiefs watched footage today that showed he did raise a hand to the fan who approached him.

However, the video also showed Aguero did not react to provocation from a number of other supporters, including one who appeared to try and strike him on the back of the head.

But he was fuming when another, the man he alleges made the vile remarks and spitting action against him, ran up to confront him.

And he had to be restrained by City staff and Latics defender Chey Dunkley.

Aguero met with club officials and a lawyer earlier to reveal his side of the story.

And if those are true then City could consider taking legal action and making a complaint to the police.

However, the FA are satisfied that no disciplinary action should be taken against the South American, although they are likely to write to him to remind him of his responsibilities.

Meanwhile, both Wigan and the Prem leaders have been charged wit falling to control their players.

That charge was brought following the angry scenes that followed Fabian Delph's controversial red card just moments before half time.

And Pep Guardiola and his opposite number Paul Cook both got caught up in it as they confronted each other on the touchline before the row continued inside the tunnel.

Wigan shocked the world as they dumped City out of the FA Cup thanks to Will Grigg's late strike.

They will meet Southampton at home in the quarter finals.
