Pep Guardiola and the Manchester City staff argue in the tunnel with the Wigan staff after Fabian Delph red card in the FA Cup

Both clubs have until 6pm on Friday, February 23, to respond to the charges.

As well as the actions of the players, managers Pep Guardiola and Paul Cook clashed on the sidelines, and then in the tunnel as the debate over the red card raged on.

However the FA will not be taking any action over the managers' behaviour, insisting that in their opinion, "no misconduct took place".

A statement from the FA read: "Both Wigan Athletic and Manchester City have been charged for failing to control their players in relation to the dismissal of Fabian Delph during last night’s Emirates FA Cup fifth round tie.

"The clubs have until 6pm on Friday, February 23 to respond.

"In addition, both clubs have been asked to provide their observations following the crowd trouble at the end of the game and have until Monday, February 26 to respond."

As the final whistle sounded on one of the biggest FA Cup giantkilling of recent times, home fans flooded onto the pitch in celebration.

However a large number of them appeared to celebrate and try and entice the Man City fans in the away end.

Manchester City fans throw objects onto the pitch after loss to Wigan in FA Cup

This led to hoardings being ripped off and thrown onto the pitch, as well as bottles and other objects.

SunSport exclusively reported earlier today how Aguero was reportedly spat at by the pitch invader and abused with the words "suck my d***".

The Argentine star met with City officials and lawyers this morning to put forward his explanation of the row that overshadowed the 1-0 upset by League One's third-placed side.

And SunSport understands Aguero says he lost his cool after the pitch invader abused him and then allegedly spat in his face.

The 29-year-old striker had to be restrained by officials and a Wigan player as he exploded with rage in the seconds after the final whistle.

Television footage appears to show him pushing one pitch invader away before he then lost control seemingly at something else that happened.
