Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba must watch back performances to rediscover form, says Chelsea legend Frank Lampard
PAUL POGBA must start watching back his performances to see where to improve, according to Chelsea legend Frank Lampard.
Manchester United midfielder Pogba, 24, was involved in a huge bust up with boss Jose Mourinho following a poor run of form including being hauled off in the 1-0 loss to Newcastle.
But Lampard believes the £89million Frenchman — who is in the squad to face Sevilla tonight — can get back to his best by looking back at where he has made mistakes in games to get better defensively.
The BT Sport pundit said: "He's very talented player. Nine assists is good. He's short on goals slightly but I'm not sure.
"Obviously the injuries affect you but in the games I've seen recently it's defensive awareness that would be my problem.
"I think maybe we're mixing it up with maybe he should be in a two or maybe he should be in a three.
"But when you play big games... Tottenham recently, Champions League if he plays tomorrow night, you have to have defensive responsibility whether you're in a two or whether you're in a three.
"That's your best and then go forward and create because he certainly has the ability to create.

"[He needs to] work it. watch games back, watch yourself, work in training, work on your relationship with the people around you.
"If anything if you're not sure about it protect areas and get in the right position as early as you can. From then he's so athletic he can arrive as many times and create goals."
An issue being blamed for Pogba's lack of form has been Mourinho not playing the former Juventus star in his best position.
But Champions League winner Gerrard reckons Pogba needs to be mature enough to play in any position.
Gerrard added: "I think he should know that now. I think he's at that age at where he should be mature enough to take Mourinho's messages on board.
"To play in a team like Manchester United... yeah go forward and create your damage but you have to defend and you have to work hard and run about."
